Mr Morris arranged a trip to Abbey Home Farm. Nine Key Stage 3 pupils went to learn about farming and organic foods. Everyone had a great time sampling the fresh foods, especially the tear jerking mustard leaf and the super sweet tomatoes. The group saw a number of expectant heifers in the cow shed and a very cute two day old calf. We investigated the dairy and how cows are milked, our final destination was the pig fields for some super adorable piglets and a very large pig called Boris.
Everyone was interested in the different challenges farm life brings and the different jobs you have to do to keep the farm running smoothly. The students were especially happy to win the challenge set by our guide, Matt, to name as many crops and answer as many questions as possible, however Mr Morris and I would like a recount of the final scores! A REALLY LOVELY DAY OUT.
Thanks to Mrs Loxton for this report.
