Happy International Women’s Day! Here’s a selection of the amazing women at our school. Thanks to all who nominated:
1. First up, a HUGE congratulations to Lilly Endicott (Y9) for being picked for the GB Under 16 Ice Hockey Team! Nominated by Mrs Evans
2. Mrs Cousins was selected by Miss Cole for “inspiring me every day.”
3. Our Publicity Officer, Mrs Purcell, who coaches BMX to women and girls. Her oldest rider is in her 50’s!
4. Ms Hazel who was Run Director at Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun on Saturday which celebrated IWD. Fifteen of the 18 volunteers were women, 100 people ran, jogged or walked 5k – half of them women!
5. Ms Wilkinson and Miss Verlander who have been giving IWD talks in assemblies this week.
6. Miss Mazelin nominated her twin sister because IWD is also “a day for celebrating the women that do great things every day without recognition by the history books. Without her love and support (of my twin sister) my first few months of motherhood would have been a LOT more stressful! Looking out for each other, helping without having to ask (or because I was too tired to!) and offering words of wisdom to make my day easier has been a blessing that I cannot repay. She is the pinnacle of the saying “If you can be anything, be kind.” and inspires me everyday.
7. Our Headteacher, Mrs Haines, for leading the school and inspiring us all to build each other up every day.
8. Mr Dipple’s Nan who emigrated to London from Ireland to join the NHS after WW2. “She is my inspiration.”
9. Mrs Batchelor for learning a new sport and loving it!
10. Mrs Lister for challenging herself to a new challenge this year… a triathlon in May!
11. Our Careers Advisor, Mrs McGovern, has nominated her sister Zoë. “She is an inspiration to us all. She had a horrific accident in 2004 and defied the medics by making sure she did everything they said she wouldn’t do again! She has the biggest heart and she’s my hero.”
