News from English: “Athelston Bibliophiles” Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils Project.
This year we have been part of a Cheltenham Literature Festival project called ‘Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils’ (RTRP). The festival team have sent us five books, all aimed at teen readers, with a spaced window of time in which we are expected to read the book and then meet to review how we might use the book to encourage a reading culture with our students. At least one colleague from each of our five schools signed up to be part of the ‘Athelstan Bibliophiles’ group. From Bradon Forest it was Ms Bate!
As part of this project a video (23 minutes) has been made, where each school has promoted one of the book titles, so the video features a range of colleagues and some students too; it’s a truly collaborative film that reflects the enthusiasm for promoting reading across the Athelstan Trust. The video can be found on the following link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMe5t-zGaEE
We are very keen to build a reading culture here at Bradon Forest and this has been an amazing project to be part of. We are very excited to build on this success next year!
