We welcomed Firefighter Claire Williamson to Bradon Forest today to speak with students who had shown an interest in the Fire Service or uniformed services as a future career interest. Our expert presented the fire service video that all new recruits get to see when joining the fire service. Claire then gave a detailed presentation including how she got into the role, the sort of jobs they attend and what life in the fire service is like.

The students from Year 7 up had a Q&A session with Claire asking some great questions such as ‘What qualifications/subjects should I be concentrating on to be able to get into the fire service?’ and ‘What training do you go through to become a firefighter?’.

Students interacted brilliantly and got to have a go at using a thermal imaging camera along with some students trying on the firefighters uniform, including the breathing apparatus.

We’d like to thank Firefighter Williamson for sharing her expertise and knowledge with our students and hopefully inspiring future firefighters!
