Mr Morris reports: “We took 49 Year 9 students on DofE Bronze Qualifying expedition on 10 and 11 June. We started our expedition on the outskirts of Bristol and headed towards Coalpit Heath in South Gloucestershire for the overnight camping. The students did very well walking alone, although some got a bit lost and ended up walking a lot more than they needed to! Despite a lot of walking, the students found the energy to play football for two hours.
On the Sunday all groups were walking by 0830 and were heading towards Chipping Sodbury School. There was a bit of rain on the Sunday, but we dodged the heaviest downpours. The final students arrived safe and sound by 1430.
The students were a credit to themselves, the school and The Duke of Edinburgh Award. They showed immense resilience in the heat and the care that they displayed to one another was great to see. Well done all involved and thank you to all of the staff that attended both the practice and the qualifying expedition.”
