Mrs Clark reports: “Throughout this term, we will learn about some of the different countries and cultures of our students. Many students take additional GCSEs in the languages that they speak at home. If you can read and write in Spanish, Polish, Cantonese, Italian, Portuguese, French, German or Japanese, please speak with Ms Wilkinson who can arrange for you to do the GCSE in Year 9 or 10 and get an extra qualification!
Why is it important to learn about different cultures?
Learning about other cultures is important because it helps us to understand and respect people who are different from us. As you get older, you will encounter people who have diverse traditions, beliefs and perspectives. By learning about these, we can build empathy, reduce prejudice and work better with others, whether in school, our future jobs or our communities. Understanding other cultures also enriches our own lives, exposing us to new ideas, foods, music and ways of thinking that can expand our worldview.
