Mr Payne reports: “The Year 7 football team produced an excellent all-round performance in the Swindon Schools Competition quarter final yesterday, beating St John’s Marlborough 3–0 to book their place in the semi-finals.
From the first whistle, the boys showed exactly what makes this squad so difficult to play against: togetherness, hard work, and a real desire to compete for every ball. Their shape and communication were impressive, with players supporting one another in every area of the pitch and showing great discipline both in and out of possession.
The goals were a reflection of the team’s approach. Each was built through smart passing, movement, and determination, with the team combining brilliantly to create chances. The opening goal settled the group and gave them confidence to keep playing positive football. As the match went on, the Year 7s continued to work as a unit, pressing well, tracking back, and showing composure when it mattered, before adding two more well-earned goals to secure the win.”
