This year’s competition has been fierce and we’d like to offer a special mention and further congratulations to Lily-Grace M (awarded 3rd place), Paris J (awarded 2nd place) and Isobel H (awarded 1st place with a total of 51 books!). All of our players have received a personalised Bookopoly certificate with their recorded score and number of reads. Our 1st, 2^nd and 3^rd place players have also received a Headteacher’s Award and a book voucher to spend on books of their choice.

Bookopoly is a great way of engaging readers and promoting reading for pleasure. In their feedback, many of our students said they joined because they wanted to read more. Lots of them also relished the challenge and signed up because they wanted to compete against friends. At the end of the competition, 75% of the players told us that participating had encouraged them to read more than they would have done on their own and over half of our players said that Bookopoly had encouraged them to discover new genres and read a wider range of materials. We also loved hearing that several students are now more likely to share book recommendations and talk about reading with other people!

We are thrilled that Bookopoly has had such a positive impact on our Year 9/10 students taking part and we are very excited to announce that our new reading competition for Years 7 and 8 will be launched in February. As we know that reading for pleasure is a massive factor in success in later life, we hope that you will support us in getting lots of students involved for more fantastic opportunities to win prizes and develop their reading skills.”
