With very limited opportunities for students to be able to gain valuable work experience in the current climate a number of organisations are now offering virtual work experience. Opportunities we have shared with our students already include VWEx (virtual work experience) in the music and arts industries, construction, tourism, broadcasting and financial services. Also big household names like Tesco and Spotify. Great Western Hospital have hosted several ‘ask a question’ sessions and Norland Nannies have offered free courses to students too.
Details of current opportunities we are aware of:
For students in Years 10 – 12 interested in working in Healthcare sector. Great Western Hospital.
Speakers for Schools has a lot of different VWEx opportunities. Sign up with them here to get notifications of VWEx opportunities as soon as they become available. Speakers for Schools is an organisation helping to level the playing field for young people of all backgrounds.

Airbus’ ‘Aerospace Virtual Work Experience’
Airbus’ Aerospace Virtual Work Experience is for Year 10 – 13 students. It involves around 10 hours of activities that students can complete at a time that suits them – meaning they don’t have to take time away from school. The free virtual work experience lasts for one week and would involve students (virtually) meeting a variety of team members working in areas anywhere from space to civil aviation. They will learn about sustainability and manufacturing and complete work and assignments to get an understanding of what life at Airbus is like. Students will receive a certificate directly from Airbus themselves, which is something they can use in both their CVs and personal statements.
Please email Mrs McGovern in the Progression Office if you have any questions work experience or if you have arranged your own virtual work experience: firstname.lastname@example.org
