Mrs Loxton reports: “On Wednesday 22 October the History GCSE students visited Kenilworth Castle. This has been the focus of our studies this half term. It was fantastic to walk in the footsteps of John of Gaunt in his Great Hall, to marvel at the grandeur of Leicester’s building – specially designed to win the heart of his beloved Elizabeth – and to wander around the gatehouse putting ourselves back into 1575. There was so much more but you’ll have to ask the students.
The Year 11 Historians were exemplary. It was a real treat to take them to a super cool castle, see them interact with the English Heritage tour guides and engage with all the awesome history they were surrounded by. A real highlight was listening to a group exclaim “Its amazing that all that history happened here.” They used their knowledge and really showed off all they have learnt in class. WELL DONE YEAR 11!”
