Mrs Sirrelle reports: “We have many students who regularly enjoy using the manga and graphic novel section in the library, so we were very excited this term to welcome celebrated illustrator Nick Pavone (https://www.nickpavonecreations.com) and Charlie Smith in to school, to run workshops with KS3 students. These workshops focused on character creation, which slipped into fully detailed world building and discussions of how to turn simple illustrations into full story comic strips. It was wonderful to see so many of our often quieter students get stuck in with sharing their fabulous ideas and each group came up with a character which was incredibly unique (and not a little crazy!). Feedback from the students was exceptionally positive, and we look forward to seeing  their newly inspired work. A huge thank you to Nick and Charlie for their endless enthusiasm during the workshops, and to the Swindon Story Shed (https://www.swindonstoryshed.co.uk/), who also donated lots of brilliant books to the library too!

Our usual March visitor Francesca Tyer, who runs high quality creative writing workshops with students from Year 10, will be returning to Bradon Forest later this year, and we look forward to welcoming her back.”
