Ms Mclean-Byron reports: “A group of students have been working on a furniture up-cycle project as part of their UAS (AQA Unit Award Scheme). This project covers 3 Unit Award Scheme (UAS) units: Upcycling Furniture, Positive Engagement in a Woodwork Project and Health & Safety in the Workshop.

The group worked together to plan the project with design ideas, repairing, cleaning sanding surfaces ready for painting. They then applied paint, varnish and other finishes, including beeswax to top for a decorative and protective layer. They chose to line the draws with wallpaper to compliment overall look and added new handles to compliment the main colour.
