Our ‘Big Question’ this week is “Should Shakespeare still be taught in schools?” and we’ve already seen some enthusiastic discussions from students and staff (especially the English department!). Whilst some students have argued that the language is difficult and there are more modern writers worth studying, others have recognised that the themes are still relevant today and particularly enjoyed studying Romeo and Juliet! What do you think, should Shakespeare still be on the curriculum?

The British Council has a great range of resources for exploring different themes from Shakespeares plays: https://www.britishcouncil.org/school-resources/find/classroom/shakespeare-lives
