Sixty seven students (can you believe it!) set out on their Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition on Friday 1 May. The groups began their hike at Barbury Castle and loaded with their heavy backpacks walked 14km throughout the day. They were very lucky with the weather, although at 23 degrees it was hard going and plenty of fluids were needed. Tents were then pitched for the night at the beautiful H5 Camp Site, surrounded by a lake, lambs and Highland cows. The students woke up early on Saturday morning and walked back to Barbury Castle, finishing during the afternoon. Mr Sturla said: “A massive well done to all students involved and a huge thanks to all the staff that supported the expedition. We’re now looking forward to the qualifying expedition on the 19 June. Fingers crossed for good weather!”
