Year 6 Transition Evening Presentation 2025

The transition to secondary school is a very exciting time, a time of new discoveries and opportunities.  However, it can also be a daunting and stressful prospect.  It is our job to ensure that we do all we can to make the move to ‘big school’ go as smoothly as possible and to ensure each child makes the very best start to their secondary school journey.

Our first correspondence with families will be posted in March.

Our second letter to families will be sent in early May.  This letter includes information about applying for the bus to school (where appropriate).  More information about the bus services can be found on this dedicated page of our website.

The deadline for applications for the bus service operated by Wiltshire County Council last year was 1 June 2024. We will update this years when it’s confirmed.

For Swindon residents applications must be made by Friday 16 May 2025 to guarantee a place on the Bradon Forest bus service.

During Terms 5 and 6 Mrs Wiltshire, our Transition Leader and Head of Year 7, will meet with primary school teachers to get to know the children coming up to Bradon Forest in September.  The information gained during these meetings will be used to place each child in the most appropriate tutor group for them.

Our final correspondence with families, is sent out at the end of June.

Induction Day

Our induction day for our new Year 7 students is on Thursday 10 July 2025.  An information evening will also be held for our new parents that evening at 6pm. A selected number of older students will support our new students during their induction day and these students will be their Peer Mentors throughout their time in Year 7.

Year 7 students and their Year 10 Peer Mentors will be the only students in school on the first day of term.  This will be another chance for our new students to explore and acclimatise to their new school before being joined by the rest of the year groups.
