Transition to secondary school is a very exciting time, a time of new discoveries and opportunities.  However, it can also be a daunting and stressful prospect.  It is our job to ensure that we do all we can to make the move to ‘big school’ go as smoothly as possible and to ensure each child makes the very best start to their secondary school journey.

Our first correspondence for families was sent out in early March 2022.  You can download a copy of the letter and the enclosed form here.  This letter sets out our plans for the transition period.

Our second letter for families was sent out on 18 May 2022.  You can download a copy of the letter here.  Details about transport to school can be found on our dedicated Transport to School page.

During Terms 5 and 6 Mrs Wiltshire, our Transition Leader and Head of Year 7, is visiting the majority of the Year 6 children in their primary schools to get to know them and also to speak with their teachers.  The information gained during these meetings will be used to place each child in the most appropriate tutor group for them.

Our two in-school induction days are on Wednesday 29 June and Thursday 30 June 2022.  Pupils who currently attend St Sampson’s and Greenmeadow Primary Schools will have an induction day on Friday 8 July 2022.  All our new students will be provided with their own copy of our induction booklet during their induction visits.

Friday 2 September 2022 will be Year 7’s first day in school in the new academic year.  Only our Year 7 students and their Year 10 Peer Mentors will be in school on that day. This will be another chance for them to explore and acclimatise to their new school before being joined by the rest of the year groups.

We have a few spaces available for Year 6 pupils to join us in September.  Please telephone our Admissions Officer, Mrs Austin, on 01793 770570 or email primaryadmissions@bradonforest.wilts.sch.uk.

Summer School 2021

We were lucky to receive government funding to enable us to run a Summer School for some of our new Year 7 students in July 2021. It is not yet clear if similar funding will be granted again in 2022.
